About Highland Farms

Highland Farms consists of 160 Shorthorn females. While we have had considerable success in the show ring over the past several decades, we are not defined by the show ring. At Highland Farms we show breeding cattle, we don't breed show cattle. As a result, we strive to produce cattle with balanced traits and we will never sacrifice structural soundness or maternal traits for purple ribbons. Shorthorn cattle have been a part of the Smithers family since 1910 when Charles Egbert Smithers started his herd. Bill Smithers registered his first Shorthorn in 1947 under the farm name of Highland Farms. The farm name was chosen because the farm includes one of the highest points in Pike County and was near a one-room schoolhouse named Highland School.Explore more
