HEC has designed and built custom electronic, mechanical and electro-mechanical devices for research for over 25 years. In 1982 Dr. Hector began Hector Engineering to design and fabricate custom miniature mass flowmeters for studying respiration and vocalization in birds and bats. Continuously for over 25 years dozens of studies have relied on HEC's products for the study of neural control of respiration and vocalization. HEC's products were expanded to fill a need for sensing, measurement and control for research in human performance including respiration, cardiac impedance, electromyography, and motion sensing. HEC has become expert with a wide variety of electronic sensing systems and has designed and built systems for many simple and complex sensing and measurement functions from temperature control and mechanical displacement to non-invasive devices for sensing cardiac output in ambulatory human subjects and sonar detection of animals in a caged system.
