On April 8th, 2007, Novosibirsk State University of Technology signed an agreement with the Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban) to cooperatively establish the Confucius Institute at Novosibirsk State University of Technology with Dalian University of Foreign Languages. The Confucius Institute at Novosibirsk State University of... Technology started operations on June 1st, 2007. It plans to hold a plaque-unveiling ceremony and begin lecturing in September 2007. Novosibirsk is the state capital of Novosibirsk, Russia. Novosibirsk is Russia¡¯s third largest city after Moscow and St Petersburg. It is the largest Russian city in Asia. A Few years ago it became the capital of seven adjacent federal states. It is now known as the capital of Siberia. It owns the largest library east of Urals, the largest train station in Siberia and the most famous ballet theater in Russia. The city has become the economic and cultural center of Russia¡¯s far east. In the last ten years Novosibirsk has developed rapidly. During this time it has built extensive contacts with China. The international Exchange Center of Far East Russia is located in Novosibirsk. The transportation infostructure of Novosibirsk is well developed. Seven weekly flights, from Novosibirsk to Beijing and Urumqi connect the two countries together. Novosibirsk is also a stop on the trans-Siberian train. Founded in 1950, Novosibirsk State University of Technology was originally named Novosibirsk Institute of Electrical Engineering. In 1992 it changed its name. As one of the famous Russian universities it has over 1200 instructors employed at the university. Out of the 1200 instructors 127 are tenured professors, 527 are either part time associate professors or Ph.d students, while 117 associate professors are employed on a part time basis.
