Hal Bolton

After almost ten years of professional experience, Hal Bolton, AIA, LEED AP, formed his own practice in 2005 to provide thoughtful designs that conserve energy and natural resources. Driven by an unwavering commitment to the environment, he has sought to offer sustainable solutions to all of his clients and dispel the myth that green architecture i... s too expensive. As a green architect, Hal has extensive experience with renewable energy systems such as photovoltaics, geothermal heating and passive solar design. As a modern architect, Hal utilizes regionally responsive design to provide a wide range of solutions for each project type and seeks to make each project as energy independent as possible. Hal is currently serving as a Volunteer Presenter on the Living Building Challenge for the International Living Future Institute. A leader in the sustainable design community, Hal has been actively involved the Committee on the Environment (COTE), a focus group of the American Institute of Architects which promotes the awareness and practice of sustainable design and green building and has authored numerous articles relating to sustainable design. (link) In addition to being a registered architect licensed in Texas, Washington, DC, Virginia and Maryland, Hal is a LEED Accredited Professional. He has architectural degrees from the University of Virginia and the Georgia Institute of Technology. Committed to recycling and reducing dependence on fossil fuels, Hal is currently rebuilding a 1976 IH Scout to run as a dual-fuel vehicle using biodiesel and used vegetable oil.
