Innkeepers, Mark and Elaine Edwards along with Miles, their eight-year-old Goldendoodle, are experiencing the adventure of their lives in Lanesboro and embrace the opportunity to welcome you into their home. Purchasing the Habberstad House and operating a bed & breakfast is a dream come true for them, after being public servants throughout their wo... rking careers. Mark served as a State of Iowa conservation officer, enforcing laws regulating hunting, fishing, and boating for 30 years. Elaine worked at both Iowa State and Kansas State universities as an extension communicator, providing research-based information to help people improve their lives, businesses, and communities. Elaine is currently the president of the Minnesota Bed and Breakfast Association . What an opportunity to get to know fantastic innkeepers from all over the state. Both Mark and Elaine are active in the Lanesboro community. They were among the 24 Lanesboro area residents who participated in the 2017 Blandin Community Leadership program. Elaine serves as chair of the Lanesboro Economic Development Authority and is on the board of Lanesboro Arts . Both are active in Lanesboro Community Theater and Over the Back Fence, have been members of Lions Club and active in their church. The past three years, they performed in the Elstad Christmas Cantata. They both learned to play the ukelele for the Lanesboro Seisquicentennial celebration in 2019. In his spare time, Mark enjoys genealogy research, gardening and golf. He does all of the maintenance at the Habberstad House and is constantly tinkering with something. Elaine enjoys baking, reading, and quilting. She takes all of the reservations and does the bookkeeping and marketing for the inn. She even does a TV interview once in a while. Miles provides lots of companionships, keeps critters out of the yard and loves people. He is the first one to the door when the doorbell rings (not always the correct door, however) and lets everyone know when a truck is in the neighborhood.Read More
