Gweny Love

Gweny Love is a professional performance poet who is the producer and host of the Gweny Love Underground Poetry Cafe' TV Show that comes on 5:00 p.m. everyday on Time Warner/Urban Cable - Channel 88. She performs one-woman-acts based primarily on her books, Getting A Grip on Things I & II and her recorded CD, Planted by Rivers of Water. Gweny Love... uses poetry, dancing, singing, storytelling, and spoken word to provide upbeat, family-friendly, fun-loving entertainment; whereas, her TV show is always recorded on-location at many of the various sites where she performs. George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia is where Gweny earned her Bachelors degree in Business Communication (major) and Telecommunications (minor). Gweny became an award-winning speaker through Toastmasters International, where she served as Vice President of Membership; hence, she became a certified speaker by completing Toastmasters Leadership Institute. Moreover, Gweny held the position of executive director in a non-profit 501(c)(3), community-based organization and was a consultant in a management and technology firm. Gweny's various community outreach efforts and her interest in local, national, and international peace and understanding have inspired her to become the founder of the Poetry for Peace Festival, as she facilitates Poetry for Peace Workshops through University of Pennsylvania's Center for Community Partnerships. The mission of Poetry for Peace is to partner with communities, businesses, faith-based groups, schools, universities, and civic organizations in efforts to raise and sustain peace awareness, while promoting respect for humanity, natural resources, and the environment.
