Gulf Madhyamam

Gulf Madhyamam is the first Indian newspaper published from outside India in the regional language of Kerala-Malayalam. To cater to the needs of the huge Malayali population in the Gulf region, we started printing our newspaper from Bahrain more than ten years ago. It started publication from Bahrain under the permission of the Ministry of Informat... ion and patronage of Mr. Nabeel Al Hamar, Chairman and Chief Editor of Al Ayam, former Minister for Information and Culture, Kingdom of Bahrain and now Media Advisor to H. M. the King of Bahrain. The first issue of Gulf Madhyamam was released on 16 April 1999 by H.E. S.S. Gill, former Ambassador of India to Bahrain. Now Gulf Madhyamam is in the forefront of newspapers and No. 1 in Middle East. We have eight editions of Gulf Madhyamam from Manama, Doha, Dubai, Kuwait, Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Muscat. During the Iraq war Gulf Madhyamam was the first Indian newspaper to send a Senior Reporter to Iraq to report from the ground, while most other newspapers were faithfully reproducing the reports by western agencies. Over the years it has earned unique reputation for objective news, incisive analyses and ethical stand. Recently, in March 2010, an exclusive interview with world-renowned India-born painter M F Husain (now citizen of Qatar), published by Gulf Madhyamam got international coverage, once again reinforcing its position of excellence in journalistic merit. Gulf Madhyamam is a derivative of the highly reputed and popularly accepted Malayalam daily named MADHYAMAM. Under Mr. V.K. Hamzah Abbas the chief editor Gulf Madhyamam has made a paradigm shift in the reading habit of Keralites in the Middle East; it broke conventions and limitations by serving the newspaper at the readers' door steps early in the morning the same day instead of having to wait for 48 and more hours to get it from their homeland.
