The simple vision screening provided by your pediatrician may not detect all eye issues, and early detection is vital. Eye disease and vision issues are far more easily corrected prior to age 9, the age at which the brain has developed completely. Rubbing your eyes, squinting, headaches, changes in vision or difficulty with focusing within arm's length are indicators to visit your optometrist. For those who wear contact lenses our optometrists recommend annual exams.
