About Greater Sydney Commission

The Greater Sydney Commission is providing an extended opportunity for community members, interest groups and others to provide input to the District Plans. The Commission is preparing six District Plans and reviewing Greater Sydney's A Plan for Growing Sydney. To ensure all plans work together, the District and Greater Sydney plans will be finalised concurrently at the end of 2017. We aim to release the Plans in late 2016 and the Commission will continue to engage with the community throughout 2017 on both plans. This is unprecedented and important to ensure we hear from as many people as possible. It also gives Councillors, who will be elected to newly formed Councils in September 2017, the opportunity to review plans before they are made. District Plans will become the link between the State Government's metropolitan plan - A Plan for Growing Sydney - and Councils' Local Environmental Plans. A draft District Plan will be released for each of the six districts - North, Central, SouthRead more

District Plans will become the link between the State Government's metropolitan plan - A Plan for Growing Sydney - and Councils' Local Environmental Plans. A draft District Plan will be released for each of the six districts - North, Central, South, South West, West Central and West. In 2017 we will draw on the Draft District Plans to review the metropolitan plan, A Plan for Growing Sydney. A Plan for Growing Sydney will align with reviews of The Long-Term Transport Masterplan 2012 and Rebuilding NSW - State Infrastructure Strategy 2014. Chief Executive Sarah Hill said: "The long timeframe for engagement activities means that the community can review the draft District Plans and what it means for them, make an initial submission, receive more information and provide further feedback." The draft District Plans will be available in digital format as well as traditional hard copy or PDF. The digital format will enable people to more easily review and respond to the information in the draft discussion documents.Read More
