Greater Newark Charter School was founded in 2000 in collaboration with parents and community leaders who were determined to create an alternative to the public school system in Newark. Greater Newark Charter School meets the needs of students and parents by providing individualized instruction, a rigorous curriculum, innovative teaching and opport... unities for student exposure to a wide array of extracurricular activities to develop their creativity and critical thinking skills. Greater Newark Charter School is dedicated to serving children and families in our community by establishing and maintaining quality education and programs designed to address our students' needs; and to foster the ultimate goal of ensuring that each child is given the opportunity for high quality continuing education. To that end, Greater Newark Charter School has been committed to working with and in the best interest of the Newark community as a whole. Greater Newark Charter School adopts a strategic plan that outlines the steps necessary for us to unite toward a shared vision of reaching the goal as well as our dream of becoming the best school in Newark, New Jersey; and our test scores and united efforts by the board, staff, students and parents involved continue to show that we are heading in that direction.
