Greater Marlboro Programs

Since 1973, Greater Marlboro Programs, Inc. (GMPI) has provided a high quality of services to adults with developmental disabilities and their families in the Greater Marlborough and Metro West area. We serve more than 300 individuals, who may reside in one of GMPI's four residential programs and shared living apartments, other provider's residenti... al programs, in independent living situations, or at home with their families. With over 40 years of experience, GMPI retains its identity as a community based, grassroots, cost effective organization. GMPI is the only agency in the Metro West and Greater Marlboro area that provides a comprehensive socialization and recreational program with transportation to this population of disabled adults. We understand that the individuals we serve have the right to be meaningfully employed, engaged in their communities and actively involved. The founding families provided the foresight and GMPI remains steady on its' path to achieve their goals. In 1973, when Greater Marlboro Programs was incorporated, one of the first programs it developed was Respite Care. This program provided families with trained assistance. Greater Marlboro Programs in collaboration with dedicated families and other community members developed a strong effort in this area. In 1976 the Commonwealth of Massachusetts developed a contractual relationship. As with all proud organizations, Greater Marlboro Programs recalls its past fondly, but looks to the future with energy, commitment and concern. This constant reevaluation has resulted in the expansion of respite care to providing a range of family support options.
