About Gourley Veterinary Surgeons
Gourley veterinary practice was initially established in 1953 on Oldham Road, Ashton Under Lyne by Mr James Gourley who was then in partnership with another veterinary surgeon. James then went on to create his own custom built surgery on Wellington Road in 1974. In 1990, James retired from veterinary practice and his son Michael, who qualified as a veterinary surgeon in 1977 took over as principal of the family business. In February 2010, Michael also retired from practicing veterinary medicine. Gourley's are the longest established veterinary practice in Tameside. Michael Gourley veterinary practice was acquired by CVS (UK) Ltd in February 2008 and now operates as part of this larger group of veterinary practices and veterinary service providers. We are a Tier 2 Small animal 1st opinion practice employing a Clinical Director, 8 full time and 1 part time veterinary surgeons.
