Goffs pioneered the concept of incentive races allied to major sales in Europe. The Cartier Million was developed with gusto by Jonathan Irwin, and contributed significantly to the growth of business at Goffs. A number of significant records have been se... t at Goffs in recent years and the steady stream of top class winners emerging from the sales continues unabated. Few years have been as notable on the racecourse as 1999 with five European classic winners having been purchased at Goffs. In 1996, Goffs established the Goffs Land Rover Sale, associated with the world's richest bumper, which has been one of the great successes in the National Hunt industry in recent times. The commitment to the National Hunt sector continues to reap rewards. A fresh approach to the business of selling horses has followed the appointment in January 1999 of Oliver O'Reilly as Chief Executive of the parent company Robert J Goff & Co., plc. The newly constituted management structure will see that every facet of the group's activities is fully utilised and developed. In 2000, Matt Mitchel joined with Goffs as Managing Director of Goffs Bloodstock Sales. Eric Hoyeau leads a small but dedicated team at Goffs France and their Arc de Triomphe Sale is a highlight of the European Sales calendar. 1999 also sees the internationally renowned Michael Osborne take over chairmanship of the company from Dr Michael Dargan, who has steered Goffs through some turbulent years on the international bloodstock market. The two most recent years have seen the turnover of the group reach record levels.
