The school aims to provide a broad and balanced curriculum, which reflects the cultural background and interests of the children. This curriculum continues to incorporate the five outcomes celebrating Every Child Matters. These are Stay Safe, Be Healthy, Enjoy and Achieve, Make a Positive Contribution and Achieve Economic Well-Being. The curriculum... also develops the children's key skills including Communication, Learning to Learn, Problem Solving, Working with Others, Application of Number and the use of Information and Communication Technology. We ensure that throughout the curriculum we provide opportunity for social, moral, spiritual and cultural development including developing respect for and understanding of others. To provide a stimulating, challenging curriculum, which offers a wide range of learning opportunities, based on first hand experiences to enrich concept information. The organisation of the learning environment will provide for a child-centred approach to active learning which caters for individual differences and allows children to progress at different rates, according to their developmental stages, individual needs and aptitudes. Through social interaction, we aim for the continued development of key skills and social skills to enhance self-esteem and confidence. We aim to provide a secure environment, which establishes the foundations upon which later stages of development can build. Equal opportunities are given to all individuals and children are encouraged, at Glodwick, to grow into independent, autonomous, knowledgeable citizens, respectful of others and themselves appreciating, accepting and understanding difference. Parents are encouraged to be involved in the life of the school whenever possible, so that they can contribute to and value their children's education.
