The new Houston-based company will offer individuals the opportunity to buy a franchise based on GlobeNetix's products and services for under $50,000, according to Marc Smith, CEO of NetStrategy. GlobeNetix will offer custom Websites featuring SiteAssistant -- an editing application that allows the customer to manage content -- with unlimited pages and custom graphics; Internet promotion and advertising; custom intranet, e-commerce and graphics and access to the Internet through dial-up, DSL, ISDN and T-1. "There are several advantages to this franchise concept," Smith noted. "First of all, it gives someone the ability to buy a franchise without having to buy a physical storefront, take out large loans or sign expensive leases. We give them low-cost entry and overhead. "And with the Internet being boundary-less, so is the franchise. Franchisees can operate without a geographic boundary in mind in terms of services they can sell around the country regardless of where they are located," Smith said. In addition, he told dbusiness.com that once a franchisee signs up a customer, the customer is required to pay monthly maintenance and service fees ranging from $100-$300 a month in addition to a set-up fee. Franchisees receive 40 percent of all revenue, with the remaining 60 percent going to GlobeNetix. The company will then take 5 percent of those proceeds and place them toward a general marketing fund for the company, according to Smith.
