GO2010 began as the international wing of the Faith Regen Foundation (FRF), a Muslim led and multi-faith inspired UK-based charity established in 2001 and operating nationally and internationally in the areas of service provision and advocacy. In 2010, exactly ten years after its inception, the FRF established GO2010 to address international develo... pment issues while promoting self-reliance through the empowerment of disadvantages communities worldwide. Now in 2014 GO2010 has established itself as an independent charity and is expanding its range and scope of work to include more thematic areas and a particular focus on women leadership and women issues. Despite some progress made toward the elimination of poverty through the United Nations' Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), huge improvements in living standards and maternal health are still needed if the MDGs are to be achieved by their target date of 2010. The MDG target date acted as the motivator behind Global One 2010, hence its inclusion in the name.
