We are committed to providing programmes that directly support international conservation, poverty reduction, and preserve ancient cultural traditions in an era of rapid globalisation. We have 15 years' experience in organising sustainable environmental and community projects throughout the wo... rld: We provide long-term support to experienced and dynamic local Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and charities, who have a clear understanding of the challenges and needs of vulnerable, marginalised communities. Our students work alongside these NGOs and local community groups on well-planned activities in villages that are part of on-going, long-term country-wide poverty reduction strategies. A good example is Global Action's partnership with the High Atlas Foundation (HAF) in Morocco. The HAF work in 6 provinces, and use a highly participatory approach. Here, marginalised communities prioritise their own development goals, and have complete ownership over project management and implementation. We believe that local communities (not us!) should always be their own 'drivers of change'. 9 months of careful planning goes into arranging itineraries and projects, to ensure each are feasible within time constraints, and materials are on site prior to your arrival. Camping outside the village, you will be totally self-sufficient during the community programme to ensure we are not taking any community resources. Community projects offer fun and highly rewarding opportunities for inter-cultural exchanges and understanding. Through this, you will learn so much more about the community's unique culture, traditions, singing and language.
