Gilmer ISD

The Gilmer ISD Foundation, established in 2005, is a public, nonprofit corporation with 501(c)(3) tax status. While the Foundation operates independently of the school district, it shares a vision of enhancing education in the Gilmer Independent School District (GISD). Under a board of directors who serve without compensation, the Foundation foster... s creative and innovative approaches to education through private grants and involvement. Members of the Foundation's Board of Directors represent a cross section of the community served by GISD, and are dedicated to the success of its students and educators. District administrators serve as ex-officio Board members. Donations to the Foundation are maintained locally. Why Establish a Foundation? Due to changes in state funding formulas and continued limits in the state budget, state funds to the District have declined considerably in recent years. It is the desire of the founders of Gilmer ISD Foundation, Inc. to establish an organization, which would encourage and reward innovation in the classroom now and in the future. By reaching beyond, the Foundation will provide educational enrichment opportunities for students and faculty beyond what is provided for within the budget of Gilmer ISD, and help students and teachers continue their education beyond the company's ISD.Read More
