Giant Squid is looking for an animator to help bring characters and environments to life in our exciting next game. As a member of the Giant Squid team, you will have the opportunity to collaborate directly with the creators of the critically acclaimed game ABZ. In our projects, we focus heavily on fluidity - we endevour to create character animati... ons that blend seamlessly together to create a flowing ballet of motion. We are looking for a passionate artist who is aligned with our goal of creating video game experiences that are elegant and efficient, yet evocative, beautiful and meaningful. Our ideal animator candidate will have a demonstrable and wide ranging knowledge of character animation techniques, from the ability to create dynamic poses and motions with a sense of weight to tweaking animation curves and the interaction of animation layers to perfection. You will constantly apply your innate sense for visual design, composition, and timing to a wide variety of animation tasks, from environmental effects to camera framing, motion, and sequencing. In addition to an expert understanding of 3D tools --specifically Maya-- a strong foundation in traditional figure drawing is a must for this position. Beyond a core understanding of 3D animation, we are looking for a team player who shares our excitement for learning, researching new techniques, wearing multiple hats and stepping outside of regular workflows to innovate and make things happen. You will be working closely with game designers, programmers, and other artists to complete character and environment animation effects.
