Worth Metroplex each year. This 20,000-seat amphitheater has played host to some of the best-selling artists of all time. Since its opening year, the venue has hosted over 600 concerts for more than 6 million people. Its the longest-running outdoor venue in the Dallas area dedicated exclusively to live music entertainment. The venue first opened in 1988 as the Coca-Cola Starplex Amphitheater and is located just east of downtown Dallas. Since its opening year, the outdoor amphitheater has featured some of the best live shows of the summer concert season. Although the venue is one of the biggest and best in the Dallas area, it has gone through several name changes over the years and from 2011 - 2017 was more commonly known as the Gexa Energy Pavilion. In 1998, Coca-Colas lost their naming rights and the venue was then known as the Starplex Amphitheater. The arena would keep this name for two years before naming rights would be purchased once again. Smirnoff Vodka purchased the naming rights to the venue in 2000 as part of a corporate sponsorship agreement with the famous House of Blues venue. During this time, the venue was known as the Smirnoff Music Centre. When underage performers hosted concerts at the venue, however, it was simply known as The Music Center at Fair Park. In 2008, the venue was renamed to Superpages.com Center. SuperPages owned naming rights for just two years.
