General Practice Victoria

GPV provides support to, and promotes education by, a number of the Statewide Hospitals and provides advice to external organisations such as the Victorian Dementia Training and Study Centre on effective development and delivery of education to primary health care professionals. In addition, GPV recognises that some health problems in primary care... have a low incidence at the Medicare Local and divisional level but involve a high level of need for individuals seeking general practice care. The need for professional development in these special areas can be effectively and efficiently met using a state-wide approach. To this end, GPV are involved in the development and provision of CPD activities to meet the special needs of high-need, low prevalence patient groups including people living with blood borne viruses and sexually transmitted infections including hepatitis and HIV, Opioid Replacement Therapy, Family Violence, and children and young people entering out-of-home care in Victoria.
