Recently named a finalist in the Ocean Happenings Best of list and a 1955 nominee for the Best Orchestra in New Jersey, the Garden State Philharmonic Symphony Society a.k.a. the Garden State Philharmonic (GSP) has served the Jersey Shore communities since 1955, growing from an entirely volunteer group to a professional cultural organization offerin... g an extensive menu of resident and outreach programs. Today, the GSP remains dedicated to a mission of creating concerts of cultural and educational value in and for its region and to fostering activities that encourage interest and appreciation of music as well as the value of the arts as a whole. The GSP is home to the professional Garden State Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Anthony LaGruth, a 50-member Community Chorus, a three-tiered amateur Youth Orchestra and a host of community education and outreach programs.
