Freespace provide personalised, self directed support for people with disabilities who live in Edinburgh. We work with local Housing Associations to secure suitable accessible properties for people wanting to live and get support in their own home. We offer individually designed services and work with you to plan how we will respond to your unique and specific needs, aim and aspirations. We were established in 1990 by people passionate about disability rights and independence who campaigned for us all to have the right to: Live in our own home, in the community: We have services throughout central Edinburgh, and the people we support hold their own tenancies or own their own homes. Choice, control and independence how we live our life: We employ support workers to work alongside you to enable you to live the life you choose. We will support and respect your choices. Access support when we need it and not when we don't: We will design your service around you. If you choose to share a staff team with other people you can have access to support 24 hours a day to be used flexibly, when you choose. We can also provide support from your own individual team if required. Freespace belongs to Altrum, a membership organisation of agencies and people committed to fostering creativity, community and citizenship for all. Freespace is governed by a board of volunteers. Find out more about the Freespace Board Members and why they want to be on the Board.
