The Fort Miller Service Corp. is a family owned business with over fifty years of continuous service to funeral directors and their client families. With its primary manufacturing facility located just east of Schuylerville, N.Y., the company operates distribution plants in Albany, Amsterdam, Easton, Plattsburgh, Poughkeepsie and Utica, New York; P... ittsfield, Mass. and Rutland, Vermont. The company is licensed to manufacture Wilbert brand name burial vaults by Wilbert, Inc. in Broadview, Illinois, a licensee owned network of concrete burial vault manufacturers that spans the United States and Canada. With a rich history dating back to 1933, the Wilbert network is recognized as the premier supplier of concrete burial vaults to the death care industry. In terms of unit sales, The Fort Miller Service Corp. ranks within the top 3% of the over 190 Wilbert licensees. The Fort Miller Service Corp. evolved from a company founded in 1939 by Jefferson Davis, a great grandson of Confederate States of America President Jefferson Davis. The original wood frame building was located on Route 4 in Fort Miller, N.Y., about four miles north of the village of Schuylerville. Hence the name The Fort Miller Service Corp. The wood frame building was destroyed by fire in 1958. Two permanent masonry buildings were constructed on the original site and remained the center of operations until the business was relocated to Easton, N.Y. in 1988 to better accommodate our expansion. Over the years the company has expanded through internal growth and the purchase of other vault companies. Our strategically located distribution plants allow us to effectively service the area from Montreal to south of Poughkeepsie and from Burlington, Vt. to Pittsfield, Mass. and west past Utica, N.Y.
