Food Security Working Group

Since 2009, the FSWG has been focusing on developing the capacities of the membership through expanding the resource center, developing training, hosting seminars, facilitating show cases, producing IEC material and leading research on food security related topics. As the credibility of the FSWG has grown as has the number of member organizations t... o the network. The FSWG members remain committed to continue building up of partnerships and networks and share lessons from on-going projects. In terms of Sustainable Agricultural activities, the FSWG conducted a Farmer Field School ToT in Yangon. A National Symposium on Farmer-led Agricultural Extension Approaches in Myanmar was held in Yangon in May 2007. Major objectives of the symposium was to facilitate exchange and learning between agencies active in farmer-led agricultural extension. This included local and international NGOs, UN agencies and government agencies and identified the relative strengths of various farmer-led agricultural extension approaches practices in Myanmar and to identify areas where approaches and policies can be improved, particularly from the view point of bottom-up farmer participation.
