Fohrd

Founded in 2003, FOHRD is a Liberian NGO working on issues of peace, good governance, human rights, justice and poverty. We engage public officials on policy issues, and support local people to actively organize and build communities that are sustainably peaceful, democratically active and assertive, environmentally healthy, socially cohesive and e... conomically inclusive. FOHRD is directed by a Board of Directors, and managed by a secretariat supervised by a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and managed by an Executive Director. Our team of hardworking staff includes three directors of our three programs, Finance Officer and Administrator, a Senior Project Coordinator, Project Officer for each project, Project Assistants working on various project, Office Assistant and Receptionist, Security and Drivers. From 2004 to 2010, FOHRD operated seven offices in five counties in Liberia (Lofa, Bomi, Bassa, Cape Mount and Montserrado); and implemented projects in Bong, Nimba, Margibi, and Sinoe Counties - working with local community based organizations as implementing partners - and utilizing the office spaces of these CBOs. FOHRD has three main programs: Archbishop Michael Francis Program on Community Justice; Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Program on Nonviolence and Peacebuilding, and President Nelson Mandela Program on Democratic Development. The current configuration of FOHRD exemplifies the efforts of three Liberia NGOs, working in the areas of conflict and peacebuilding, democracy and good governance, human rights and community justice, to come together under one umbrella - FOHRD - pull their expertise together, harness their energies and become professionally assertive. FOHRD aims too build International NGO-Class Local NGO within Ten Years (2016 - 2026) to increase our efficiency and effectiveness, broaden our impact, and improve the lives of people we serve.
