Florence County School District

Florence County High School was awarded a bronze medal for being ranked within the top 30% of all public high schools in the U.S. To attain the bronze level of recognition a school had to 1) perform better in reading and math proficiency tests than state averages 2) perform better in reading and math for low-income, disadvantaged students compared... to state averages 3) attain a graduation rate above national averages. The top 500 schools in the nation are recognized with gold medals and the subsequent 2,173 high schools received a silver. There were 3,545 high schools that were awarded bronze medals. During his recent visit to Florence County, Governor Scott Walker was presented with a Fab Lab t-shirt and name plaque created in the Florence High School Fab Lab by Fab Lab student Jayden Streu. Governor Walker invited six Florence High School Students to his recent listening session with other county stakeholders. Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch toured the Florence Schools Fab Lab on Tuesday December 1st, 2015. Lawmakers, local business leaders, and others joined students and staff of the School District of Florence County on Monday, November 2nd, 2015 to celebrate the grand opening of the district's fab lab.The Florence County School District is hosting a Public Open House for their new Fab Lab on Thursday, November 12th, from 4:30-6:30pm at the high school on 400 Olive Ave in Florence. The new Fabrication Laboratory (Fab Lab) has been a place of excitement since the start of this school year. More students are finding out that the Fab Lab class is a unique multi disciplinary hands-on approach to learning.
