Based in Bath, Flare specialises in information systems and related services for UK local government, supplying approximately 200 local authorities. It is a market leader in the areas of environmental health, and trading standards solutions. The acquisition also gives Civica access to technology in public protection and regulatory services includin... g anti-social behaviour, planning, building control and waste management. In the twelve months to 30 April 2005, Flare achieved turnover of £5.2 million (2004: £4.2 million) and earnings before interest and tax (before exceptional items) of £0.9 million (2004: £0.7 million). It had gross assets of £6.7 million as at 30 April 2005. Civica expects the acquisition will be earnings enhancing for the Civica Group.
