First Expressions is run by Nicola Brooke, an experienced paediatric speech and language therapist based in Wiltshire who loves her job and is passionate about helping children communicate effectively. Having graduated from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 2001 with a 1st class honours degree in Speech a... nd Language Sciences I then spent 7 years working full time for the NHS before having my first child in 2007 and establishing First Expressions in 2008. I have a vast experience of working with pre-school and school age children in Wiltshire, Hampshire & Dorset in a variety of settings including family homes, child development centres, pre-school language units, community clinics, children's centres and mainstream and independent schools. I pride myself on being a 'people person'; able to quickly gain the confidence of the children I work with whilst also being able to explain and involve parents and professionals in my work in a way that means they feel empowered to help their child. I have worked collaboratively with Educational Psychologists, Portage, Health Visitors, Teachers, Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists but most importantly I am very experienced at working collaboratively with parents to achieve the best results for their child. I am a registered member of The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT), The Health Professions Council (HPC) and The Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice (ASLTIP).Read More
