About File/Print

In order to be eligible for continued support coverage, VCE requires a Vblock to conform to a matrix of software/firmware versions for all hardware & software within a Vblock. These devices include the Cisco 2x Nexus 5548, 2x 9148, 2x 3560X, 2x 1000V, 2x UCS 6140, 10x B200, 1x C200, EMC VNX 5500 and VMware/vCenter/VUM. For the last 2 years I have been tasked to perform these updates over 1 weekend at the end of summer school and prior to the beginning of the new year. Aug. 2013 we progressed to matrix revision 3.5.8, Aug. 2014 we continued to matrix revision 4.5.4 & Aug. 2015 we upgraded to matrix release 4.5.14. Due to renovations, switch exchanges and changes over time; our ER information in Call Manager has degraded and requires an update. Rather than visiting over 1,300 Cisco VoIP phones, I port mapped every single switch port throughout the district (via SNMP) which included CDP information, extracted information from Call Manager including Phone + Extensions and linked these detaRead more

Due to renovations, switch exchanges and changes over time; our ER information in Call Manager has degraded and requires an update. Rather than visiting over 1,300 Cisco VoIP phones, I port mapped every single switch port throughout the district (via SNMP) which included CDP information, extracted information from Call Manager including Phone + Extensions and linked these details to our employee records to relate the primary office location. Once all gathered, I could relate the Device Name to Switch Port to the Room assignment and knocked out 2/3rd of the phones. The remaining we only need to identify the office location, switch information was already captured. As we expanded our 1:1 iPad program this year to all students at the district, a growing need for a better projection and printing solution via the iPads was growing. After the introduction of iOS 8, peer to peer AirPlay became available offering iPad 4 & Airs the option to discover nearby AppleTVs via Bluetooth and connect via an adhoc wireless network between the AppleTV and the iPad completely off our network. AirPrint improved greatly after I reconfigured Mac Minis with my custom method for artificially creating the AirPrint advertisements to printers shared on the Mac Minis eliminating the need for third party AirPrint options. Because of a flaw experienced with the 3560G line of Cisco switches, Cisco approved a district-wide exchange ...Read More
