Figments Youth Dance Ensemble

Figments is a contemporary dance company comprised of professional dancers and dance educators who are dedicated to empowering children to explore their emotions, experiences, and ideas through the creation of dance movement. The Company uses professional repertory as a tool to exemplify ways in which children can unleash their creative potential.... Figments' unique blend of repertory and workshop activity allows for the safe and effective facilitation of each child's voice. Figments is known for its collaborative methodology. The Ensemble focuses on engaging every child through action and interaction. The Figments Dance Ensemble is inclusive. Built on the idea of cultivating confidence, every age, background, and experience. The Figments program is one of the few that can access each of the seven principles as put forth in Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences. Children will grow in the Figments program through use of their spatial, musical, logical-mathematical, linguistic (articulating their findings), interpersonal, intrapersonal, and (of course) bodily-kinesthetic faculties. The use of dance as an educational tool facilitates the development of each child's perceptual awareness.
