FIDA Uganda

FIDA Uganda, established in 1974 by a group of women lawyers, was founded with the primary objective of fostering their professional and intellectual growth. This organization has evolved significantly since its inception, becoming a cornerstone in the advocacy for women's rights within Uganda. Its mission centers on promoting gender equality and ensuring access to justice for women across the nation.

The association operates with a substantial team, ranging from 500 to 1,000 employees, and boasts over 300 members. FIDA Uganda established its inaugural legal aid clinic in Kampala in 1988, specifically to offer legal services to indigent women. Today, the organization maintains offices in key cities and towns, including Arua, Gulu, Iganga, Kampala, and Soroti, demonstrating a broad operational footprint.
