The company was first founded as a commission sweater knitter with only 4 flat-bed manual knitting machines. Under its founder N.J. Kao, the company grew into one of the larger sweater manufacturer in Taiwan with 700 operators by late 1970's. To ensure self-sufficiency in yarn supply, the company started yarn-twisting operation in the early 1980's... with novelty twister and hollow spindle equipments, producing fancy novelty yarns for internal use, as well as for resell. In 1981, an US subsidiary was established in Los Angeles (USA), operating as a sweater importer/distributor, marketing its own products to the US retail chains. By late 1980's, company has expanded its manufacturing base by opening a knitting mill in the Dominican Republics, employing 600 operators. Beginning in early 1990's, with the Chinese sweater producers started seizing the world apparel market with its lower cost labor, the family exited the sweater business yet retained its yarn operation based in Taiwan. When chenille yarns came into trend in 1994, the family invested into chenille machines and later expanded its reach to the US market in1997 by establishing an office in New York, catering to the home furnishing industry. With years of experience in novelty yarn manufacturing and in chenille production, we understand the technicalities and the details in making correct chenille yarns for weaving. Our production is equipped with SSM winders, ensuring proper and consistent winding density for dye package put-ups. The company also offers a wide array of novelty yarns, including boucle, eyelash (feather), and ribbon yarns in various fiber compositions for the apparel and craft markets. Over the years, FiberOption has established itself as reliable novelty yarn source for the upholstery weavers in the US.
