The regeneration scheme designs are nearly completed and then they will soon be signed off for work to happen. Albert Place will be the starting point, and should be completed in October. The other areas are to be transformed in January 2014 to prevent any major disruption to the trade of the market stalls. These changes include: new stalls for the existing two businesses plus three additional businesses, a paving over of the current 'wild west' parking area to provide safe passage for shoppers, traffic calming measures for pedestrian crossing Stoneleigh Road, and, a re-shaping of the Holcombe Road walkway. The transformation of Brook Street will be around the same time and will also link with some alteration of the arts (erm, Law Centre) building. We are asking for the black wall car park to be opened up and a coffee shop to be sited in an new entrance facing onto Brook Street. Have faith that the street drinking culture will have done, and in any case we shouldn't limit our ambitions to improve our area because of the anti-social behaviour of 25 people. Sooner work includes the Bruce Grove railway station bridge being re-painted in August to have 'Bruce Grove' emblazoned across it.Read More
