Farming for Humanity Charity Mission: To help insure that all individuals, families, and communities have food security and are self-reliant through growing their own food at the local level using eco-friendly sustainable gardening Why Farming for Humanity Charity is good for Americans! At the Center we teach the Happy Plant Gardener Program. This... easy educational garden program is taught to all ages in the Centers class room and demonstrated in their garden. We supply booklets, seed, tools, and fertilizer for school learning gardens, community gardens, garden clubs, churches, civic organizations and company gardens. It is a friendly place to come and learn all about the soil and the plants, so you can easly grow your own bountiful and healthy garden. We donate the harvest from our Centers vegetable garden to the needy in the area. The Happy Plant Gardener Program is taught to students starting in kindergarden through to seniors in high school. We believe all students should have a garden every semester to grow up in! School gardens are a wonderful way to use the schoolyard as a classroom, reconnect students with the natural world and the true source of their food. It has been shown in schools all over the USA that students who participate in school garden programs become more enthusatic for school, behavior improves, and their attandance is high because they are so eager to get into their garden! Achievement test scores increase and students improve in most subjects when gardens are integraded into their schools programs. Students of of all ages are keen to be outside and in the garden, wheather they are planting, hoeing, or harvesting. They are above all, elated when they get to eat the fruits and vegetables that they have planted and cared for.
