In his laboratory on 2nd October 1925 John Logie Baird successfully transmitted the first television picture of “Stooky Bill”, a wooden ventriloquist’s dummy, in a 30-line vertically scanned image at 5 pictures per second. The image was transmitted from one side of the room to the other. Today, less than one hundred years later, we watch live colour outside broadcasts in HD from anywhere in the world...and even from space.
