Extractives Baraza

The Extractives Baraza ("EB") is an advocacy-neutral online platform that promotes knowledge, transparency and evidence-based stakeholder dialogue on the extractives sector in Kenya. Its ultimate goal is to enhance citizen participation and engagement in the governance of Kenya's extractives sector. The platform currently is supported through the K... enya Extractives Program ("KEXPRO"). However, the platform acts independently, and aims to promote helpful dialogue and understanding by all those interested or affected by the extractive sector in Kenya. The Extractives Baraza provides relevant and credible information on Kenya's developing extractives sector to all: citizens, investors, civil society organizations, the Kenyan Government and other stakeholders. EB also aims to facilitate and enhance informed policy debate and therefore support inclusivity, equity and transparency in all aspects of Kenya's extractives sector. Furthermore EB will hold events such as expert forums, trainings and engage in other activities that will help build capacity and cooperation amongst the industry's stakeholders. The platform mainly dedicates its coverage and informational products to Kenya's extractives industry. This has been informed by the significant discoveries of minerals and hydrocarbons that have led to increased demand for access to information by a host of stakeholders. The platform is conscious of the global nature and complexity of the extractives industry.
