Everest Biomedical Instruments Company is developing a completely new generation of brain state assessment instruments based on patterns of brain electrical activity. Everest believes that electroencephalography (EEG) and evoked potentials, particularly auditory evoked potentials (AEP), hold a wealth of data regarding a patient's brain state or neu... rological condition. By utilizing the latest advances in Digital Signal Processing (DSP), patented mathematics, and miniaturized hardware, Everest is developing a family of handheld brain-state assessment devices capable of turning those data into clinically relevant information that objectively detect critical conditions of the brain at the bedside or at the first point of care. Until now, these assessments could only be accomplished using expensive, marginally portable machines that produce simple raw data and require additional expert interpretation. The impact of Everest's instruments on brain-state assessment can be likened to the invention, deployment and universal availability of electrocardiography (ECG). The widespread availability of cardiac screening and monitoring devices has contributed to the tremendous advancement seen in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of heart disease.
