Eugene School District

The Committee is grateful to classmate Jim Kurth for creating custom KUHS Pelican Pete art for our class reunion and for his contributions of art to the school over the years such as this piece that is featured on the gym floor. Wow 50 years where has the time gone? After graduation from High School I moved to San Francisco, and attended IBM school... for computers. After graduation from the IBM Computer School, I went to work in San Francisco at Wells Fargo Bank in their Computer Department. I loved living in San Francisco, and to this day it is my favorite city in the USA. I married Jim Carland in 1964 he was from the (class of 62). Two years later we divorced. I stayed in the San Francisco Bay area until 1969 and then moved back to Klamath Falls. In 1970 I married Ron Hinshaw and we had two amazing children. In 1974 we moved to Eugene, OR. Ron and I were divorced in 1991. My two kids are so great and have brought a lot of joy to me. My son, Jeff is 40 and lives in Portland, OR. Jeff is a Senior Developer for Nike Corp. in Beaverton, OR. My daughter, Jenny is 34 and works for Oregon Pediatrics in Clackamas, OR. I have no grandchildren. During my life I have had 3 different jobs, and enjoyed each one of them. I worked for various banks while living in California and Oregon. The next job was for the Southern Pacific Railroad in Klamath Falls. It just seemed natural to work for the Southern Pacific Railroad because both my parents worked there for their entire working careers. I left the SP Railroad because it was difficult to keep working all the different shifts after having my son. I worked for the Eugene School District for 24 years and retired in December 2007. I know for a fact that working for the School District was my favorite job. I loved working with the students so much. I later became certified to teach First Aid, CPR & AED to all the teachers, coaches, and volunteers in the school district and did that for 10 years.
