Ercot has announced a new metering requirement under NPRR 1188 mandating that CLRs separately meter total consumption from all other load and generation on site, with existing CLRs required to have compliant meters installed no later than December 31, 2026, and new CLRs required to meet this standard prior to registration. ERCOT is working directly with Resource Entities and QSEs to ensure compliance, as non-compliance carries a risk of deregistration.

Ercot has announced that upon implementation of NPRR 1188, Controllable Load Resources (CLRs) will be dispatched using actual nodal shift factors and settled at the resource node and Locational Marginal Price (LMP), replacing the current zonal shift factor and zonal price methodology, providing ERCOT with improved visibility into congestion management. This change applies exclusively to true CLRs; Aggregated Load Resources (ALRs) will continue to be settled zonally.
