About Electric Fields

We are so excited to finally be able to release our latest Feast Session! Filmed earlier this year, our second instalment features a set from dark synth pop artist Goodnight Louisa. Goodnight Louisa is the solo project of Louise McCraw, ex front woman of the now separated Scottish indie band Skjør and, of course, a past Music Production student of Edinburgh college. After Skjør disbanded, McCraw set to work on her new project by taking up a writing residency at Icelands West Fjords creative retreat. It was there that she wrote new songs and crafted the dark synth, dream-pop sound that would become Goodnight Louisa. In 2019, between releasing two highly successful singles, Hollow God (which was named The Heralds number 1 song of 2019) and Someone So Sublime, she played with The Vegan Leather, OK Button and SHHE among others. Her latest single Agnes, which she self-produced, was released on April 3rd. You can find it on all music streaming platforms. Goodnight Louisas set for us includedRead more

Goodnight Louisas set for us included two original tracks and one incredibly clever cover, which we will be releasing separately later this year! The session was rounded of with an interview, hosted by our Artist in Residence and Feast Session coordinator, Ashley Stein. When it comes to getting a break in the Music Industry there is no silver bullet. Instead there are multiple ways in. We caught up with three ex-students of Edinburgh College to find out how they got their first break in the music industry and the three things you should be doing if you want to succeed. One common thread that all three agreed on was the importance of getting hands on experience, mostly through volunteering or internships. Lisa Thomson, who works with MAMA and Co/ Live Nation: Volunteer as much as you can. Yes, working for free is not ideal but think of the impressions you can make to the right kind of people. Its always great fun as well! I looked at it as investing in my future and it worked. Network as well, events such as Born To Be Wide give you the opportunity to meet people ...Read More
