Why is eduDroid only available on Android devices? Android is an open-source operating system which means they are cheap and simple-to-use devices available for both... home and school use. The first set of 70 tablets for our school cost just £52.50 each and run all the applications we require with no problems. We recently purchased a further 12 costing just £48.25 each. With eduDroid installed these are used for a wide range of lessons. An added benefit of using android is the access to Adobe Flash, which accounts for 80% of web based educational games available at the moment. There are lots of great education apps available that are called "stand alone" applications. These may only cover one or two topics. By contrast, eduDroid is designed as a modular system so all of the content is connected and covers a vast array of different topics. Working in a school, I know that teachers' time is precious. They work hard and need an easy way to create learning content quickly. eduDroid provides them with the tools to achieve this, while also engaging children with modern technology. After working as a Junior School Network Manager for 10 years, I saw there was a need for an educational app in schools that is quick to manage, easy for teachers to use and, most importantly, fun for children to play on and learn.
