One year ago, Edinans from across the political spectrum voted for change in the state legislature. I was humbled by your support, and I worked hard during the 2017 legislative session to make sure that the new ideas, new energy and new leadership I promised wasnt just a campaign slogan but my daily responsibility. I think I was successful fighting... for every family in Edina, and I want to continue that work into 2018 and beyond. But before I get to that I want to tell you little bit about what happened in 2017. The three areas I focused on during the 2017 legislative session are issues that are of special importance to Edinans: students and schools, transportation solutions and tax relief. Im happy to say that House Republicans had success in all three areas. A brief summary of the progress we made on these issues can be found here . In addition to those issues, I led the way in streamlining the open enrollment process for all Edina families, advocated for our states higher education institutions, supported health care reform that cut premiums for Minnesota families, reduced taxes for senior citizens, and helped an initiative that will bring new wireless technologies to our state. It was a good 2017 legislative session for Edina. As you may have recently seen on TV ( KARE-TV ) and online ( MinnPost ), I have begun work on a new bill to get repeat drunk drivers off the road for good. This legislation will be my top priority in 2018 and I anticipate broad bipartisan support. It was a tremendous honor to serve as your state representative in St. Paul, and I look forward to the 2018 legislative session and seeing you on the campaign trail next summer.
