Eastern Trading Company is a closely held cotton merchandising firm. Founded by Hurdle Lea and Rusty Dyer in 1986, Eastern Trading quickly grew to serve the domestic, Mexican and Canadian textile industry. Phil Canale and Jordan Lea bought the company in 1998 and still own and operate Eastern Trading. Eastern Trading is based in Greenville, SC. In... addition to currently serving the domestic textile industry in the US, Eastern Trading is well represented in China, Japan, Indonesia, Taiwan, Turkey, Korea, Vietnam and in Central and South America. Their primary strengths lie in merchandising Eastern and Memphis US Cotton, but Eastern Trading Company handles all US growths as well as Brazilian, Greek and other foreign growths of cotton. Phil Canale is a delegate to The National Cotton Council and a past board member of The Atlantic Cotton Association as well as the Greenville Cotton Exchange and spent four years in the Australian cotton industry prior to moving to Greenville. Jordan Lea is a graduate of the 2000 NCC Cotton Leadership Class, is President of The American Cotton Shippers Association and an arbitrator to the ICA, as well as on its Board of Directors. Both principals are graduates of the Memphis Cotton Exchange Cotton School. Eastern Trading is an active member of The National Cotton Council, The American Cotton Shippers Association, The International Cotton Association and sits on the Cotton Committee of the ICE Futures Exchange.
