Eastern Ontario Training Board

The Eastern Ontario Training Board (EOTB) was established to play a leading role in labour force development. It is led by a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of representatives from business, labour, racial minorities, women, francophone, trainers/educators and person with disabilities. Our mandate includes directing the workforce planning an... d development in support of government training programs and employment related services. This includes identifying priorities for training; making recommendations on programs and services to ensure they are accessible, effective and responsive to local needs; and working with Community Partners to resolve labour market and socio-economic development issues. Our network was launched in 1994 under the name Local Boards, but as of 2011 is known as Workforce Planning Ontario to better reflect our mandate to connect stackeholders within the labour market. We are funded by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities under Employment Ontario. The EOTB territory includes the counties of Prescott, Russell, Stormont, Dundas and Glengary. This area is characterized by one large population centre, the City of Cornwall; a medium size centre, the City of Hawkesbury, and numerous smaller communities such as Lancaster, Alexandria, Vankleek Hill, L'Orignal, Alfred, Plantagenet, Rockland, Casselman, Russell, Maxville, St. Isidore, Finch, Avonmore, Winchester, Chesterville, Morrisburg, Ingleside and others. The economy of the area is based on manufacturing, agriculture, hospitality/tourism, financial/retail/service, industrial and construction.
