Dunlop Tyres

Our founder, Phil Lamont, was first involved with Dunlop Racing Tyres in the 1960's. During his time as Track Manager of Mosport Park in Ontario, he met and worked with Dunlop race tyre technicians, and also worked with Bill Brack's racing team when his company Sports Car Unlimited was distributing Dunlop Race Tyres. In 1979 Phil was elected Presid... ent of the Vintage Automobile Racing Association of Canada. As VARAC grew members found that proper racing tyres were hard to find. As Dunlop was the only company still manufacturing authentic vintage racing tyres, Phil contacted their headquarters in Birmingham, England. We pooled our members' orders and organised the overseas shipping on a not-for-profit basis. As the orders grew, some members urged Phil to mark-up and sell tyres and wheels. Dunlop then appointed P.R. Lamont Racing as the distributor of Dunlop race tyres in Canada. The business grew and many US & Canadian vintage racers were ordering tyres. In 1990 Dunlop Tyres Ltd. U.K. Motorsport division appointed Vintage Tyres Ltd. as The Distributor of Dunlop Racing Tyres in North America.Read More
