Since our founding in 2019, Drones Without Borders (Drones Sans Frontires) have been determined to make an impact to help. We know that understanding the scale of a disaster in the immediate aftermath is an immense challenge to responders. The core of our efforts is therefore to bring fresh ideas and passion to the use of unmanned systems (drones)... in responding to disasters and crises. Through all of our endeavours we hope to display the conviction behind our beliefs, and to do our utmost to help wherever we can in an impartial and independent manner. Drones Without Borders is a non-profit, non-partisan, non-governmental organisation, structured as a small charity by definition of the Charity Commission , and protected as an international non-governmental organisation by European Convention . On the ground, we are unarmed civil defence/civil protection, and are protected by international humanitarian law . All the activities of Drones Without Borders is aimed at providing a holistic technological and human security approach to solving some of the biggest challenges in responding to disasters and other crises. We make sure our partners are empowered by delivering real-time information, videography, photography, to understand the ground truth. The humanitarian crises we respond to as unarmed civil defence/protection specialists can be divided into the following: Complex emergencies (a combination of natural and man-made emergencies, such as food insecurity and displacement of people).
