Dream Big

Founded in 2010, Dream Big! is a 501C3 Boston based non-profit organization. Dream Big!'s mission is to help girls from low-income situations achieve their dreams by providing them with the basic items and fees necessary to enable them to participate in sports and physical activities that contribute to their health, education and overall well-being... . How it works: Dream Big! partners with community sports organizations, social-service organizations, schools and community health centers to identify and fulfill the basic needs of girls from economically disadvantaged communities, in elementary, junior high and high school in order to help them engage in organized sports, recreation and physical activities. Dream Big! will provide through Equipment Grants and Program Scholarships the following items to girls in-need and the programs that serve them: 1. Equipment, athletic footwear, uniforms, sports attire, sports camp and college showcase scholarships, sports clinics and program fees. 2. Games and equipment that encourage young girls to play and become physically active. Since 2010 Dream Big! programs have impacted over 55,000 girls and young women in economically disadvanataged communities. Regular participation in physical activity during childhood and adolescence promotes the development of positive body image, confidence, self-esteem and has been shown to improve academic performance and career success. Physical activity also reduces a girls health risk for: Obesity, diabetes, heart disease, osteoporosis, breast cancer, depression, unintended teen pregnancy, stress, anxiety, a lack of self esteem among others.Read More
