Dr. Don Parker is passionate about working with at-risk students. His pivotal objective is to encourage them to improve their behavior and academic achievement. As a former Physical Education and Health teacher, Dr. Parker gained an appreciation for teaching students life skills after several of them acknowledged his guidance had helped them during... a time of crisis and through difficult living situations. Their feedback fueled his desire, prompting him to serve fervently in a promotion to Dean of Students in a disenfranchised community. With over 18 years of professional and academic experience, Dr. Parker has developed a plethora of strategies to support at-risk students. He conducted in-depth research while earning a Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership. His experience as an Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Instruction and as an Assistant Principal for Pupil Personnel Services, has provided him with the knowledge of how to best apply research based methods in practical situations to determine their effectiveness. He conducts workshops on how teachers and administrators can build trusting relationships with at-risk students.
