About Downtown Disney

Orlando is the entertainment capitol of Florida. Once a rural part of Central Florida Orlando is now a metropolis spawned by the phenomenal success and expansion of Walt Disney World and Universal Studios, Sea World and a host of smaller attractions. Now, virtually all of Central Florida defines itself by its distance from Orlando, while Orlando defines its own mega-sprawl by its distance from Disney World. As the urban expansion happens, the area between Tampa on the Gulf Coast and the Orlando / Kissimmee area is rapidly becoming one large community. Getting around Orlando isn't difficult, but if you want to venture out beyond the immediate area around your hotel or the theme parks, you will need a rental car. Avoid the main roads such as Interstate 4 between 7-9AM and 4-7PM. If you're looking for a golf vacation in Orlando or Kissimmee, just click here for great golf vacation packages to fit any budget. If you choose a hotel or vacation rental close enough to the theme parks, you mayRead more

If you choose a hotel or vacation rental close enough to the theme parks, you may be able to avoid renting a car . Most of the larger hotels run shuttles to the theme parks. Getting to Orlando from any part of the world is easy due to large number of low cost flights to Orlando arriving each day at Orlando international airport. For Disneyworld, once you get to any part of Disney , they run their own shuttle system in addition to the monorail. If you have a rental car, you can just park it for the day and ride the Disney shuttle. One good spot that's not too hard to get to is Downtown Disney which is located next door to Pleasure Island. Park there in the morning, hop the shuttle to Disney or Epcot and come back for dinner.Read More
